On a bluff overlooking the beach, near Amherst, Nova Scotia, the Ketchum Cottage offers a commanding view of the sea. Beach access is easy and convenient. It’s through the neighboring Nova Scotia beach park. It’s a park dedicated by the province to Henry Ketchum’s attempt to build a “Ship’s Railway” in the early 1800’s. If completed this Railway would have carried tall ships across Nova Scotia to & from the Northumberland Strait to the Bay of Fundy.
The Ketchum Cottage is inspected and rated by Canada Select.
It was awarded a 4-star rating as a vacation home.
The Ketchum Cottage was used by Henry Ketchum, himself, as he was building the Northumberland Strait Terminus of the Chignecto Marine Transport Railway (CMTR). While the cottage maintains the ambience of the late 1800s, it is up-to-date with the modern conveniences that make the cottage life today a very enjoyable experience.
